In 2015, the Laguna Dance received the prestigious “Best Arts Program” award from the Laguna Beach Arts Alliance for presenting Malpaso, the hottest contemporary Cuban dance company, during its West Coast premiere. Additionally, the festival was honored with the "Achievement Award for Outstanding Arts Organization" by ArtsOC.
This year featured an impressive array of master classes, including sessions with Jodie Gates, LDF Artistic Director and Vice Dean of the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance; Tiler Peck, Principal Dancer with New York City Ballet; and Alonzo King of Alonzo King LINES Ballet. Participants also enjoyed master classes with Malpaso Dance Company, BODYTRAFFIC, Hope Boykin of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and Saleemah Knight from USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance.
The festival featured a master class series led by Alonzo King of Lines Ballet, BODYTRAFFIC and Cuban artists from Malpaso Dance Company. Lines Ballet performed as part of the main stage events, and the festival presented the west coast premiere appearance of the Cuban-based company, Malpaso Dance Company. Festival events included three pre-show lectures and four new choreographic commissioned for Art Walk. Master classes were held at the Laguna Beach High School and featured performances at The Laguna Playhouse.
