2017

In 2017, Laguna Dance featured a dynamic range of offerings, including a master class with Ballet BC that showcased contemporary ballet techniques. Participants engaged in the "Choreograph Your Career" workshop, led by Jodie Gates, Andrew Winghart, and Spenser Theberge, providing valuable insights into navigating the dance industry.

Additionally, attendees enjoyed a master class with Patrick Corbin, a former member of the Paul Taylor Dance Company, and a collaborative master class with Saleemah E. Knight and Jodie Gates from the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. This year emphasized creativity and professional development, making it a standout experience for dancers and enthusiasts alike!

Over 40 young dancers from Orange County dance schools participated in Laguna Dance's Gala Event, and guest performers included BFA students from USC Kaufman professional dancers from “Dancing with the Stars” and “So you think you can dance”. The festival was held at the Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach. “A Salute to the Arts” inspired by the original Festival of Arts, which featured the LA-based contemporary Indian dance theatre ensemble, Blue 13 Dance Company for master classes and four performances.  Festival events also included three pre-show lectures, a “Dance on Film” presentation, an onstage lec/dem “Backstage with Paul Taylor” event free to the public, and commissioned three new works for Art Walk located at the Laguna Art Museum, Sonia & Co., and Dawson Cole Fine Art. Master classes were held at the Laguna Beach High School and featured performances at The Laguna Playhouse.
