For 15 years, Laguna Dance Festival has presented internationally renowned dancers, choreographers and companies to energize and entertain our village patrons, and to educate and inspire our local students. As the pandemic has devastated the dance world by closing down theaters, practice studios, canceling tours, and furloughing thousands of staff, LDF has found ways to continue bringing dance to our community. We have included free live solo performances at The Promenade in Laguna Beach, free online dance classes, and virtual performances via our digital media outlets.
We are also proud that we have continued to provide vital professional opportunities to dancers in need of places to dance. To this end we are currently focusing on commissioning dancers and choreographers to create new works. Our first commissioned dance will be performed by internationally acclaimed Flamenco dancer, Irene Rodríguez, during our virtual year end campaign event “Dance Like No One’s Watching” event December 4th.
