Laguna Dance Festival’s winter intensive brings together internationally renowned dance artists from Complexions Contemporary Ballet, New York City Ballet, Gibney Dance and USC Kaufman for 2 weekends of dance. Included in this one-of-a-kind REAL TIME experience are technique classes in Ballet, Contemporary, and career advice by Jodie Gates.
2 weekend fee – $200 (December 5 & 6 and December 12 & 13)
1 weekend fee – $100

MARIA KOWROSKI
Maria Kowroski was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she began her ballet training at age seven with the School of Grand Rapids Ballet. Ms. Kowroski entered the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet, in the fall of 1992. She became an apprentice with New York City Ballet in the summer of 1994 and was invited to join the Company as a member of the corps de ballet in January of 1995. In the spring of 1997, Ms. Kowroski was promoted to the rank of soloist and in the spring of 1999, she was promoted to principal dancer.

DESMOND RICHARDSON

JAKE TRIBUS
Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Jake Tribus grew up training at CC & Co. DanceComplex, competing in styles including contemporary, jazz, hip hop, tap and ballet. During his junior year of high school, Jake attended Next Generation Ballet in Tampa, Florida, on full scholarship, while training in classical ballet under the directorship of Peter Stark. Upon graduation from high school, Jake received a full academic scholarship to USC to pursue his BFA at the Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. READ FULL BIO

JODIE GATES
Jodie Gates has established a significant career in the dance field. For over thirty-five years she has contributed to the profession as a director, educator, coach, choreographer, producer and principal dancer. She continues to lead with kindness, bold ideas and risk-taking as guiding principles for her artistic vision.
Ms. Gates is currently the Founding Director of the University of Southern California’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, where she is also a Professor of Dance. She was the school’s first Vice Dean and Director, and was given unprecedented responsibility for implementing the artistic vision and creating a dance curriculum and faculty from the ground up. The resulting curriculum, called “The New Movement,” is a new hybrid model for dance – expressed in studio practice, music, choreography, performance, new media and scholarship. READ FULL BIO
