FIRST THURSDAYS ART WALK

 

Join us Thursday, April 6th, 2023 for First Thursdays Artwalk for a beautiful collaborative evening of art between the Dawson Cole Fine Art Gallery and Laguna Dance Festival.

 

The evening will feature dancers and repertoire from HD Theatre moving amongst dynamic art works by Richard MacDonald, Chuck Close, Pablo Picasso, and more.

 

The evening will have two showings, at 6:30p and 7p inside the main gallery.

 

Haley Heckelthorn

Haley Heckethorn is originally from Las Vegas, Nevada. She attended Arts Umbrella under the direction of Artemis Gordon and in 2015 was awarded the Emerging Artist scholarship from the RBC Canada Council. She has worked with Crystal Pite’s Kidd Pivot, Peter Chu’s chuthis., Bodytraffc, and guested with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. After many years of independently choreographing and freelancing Haley became co-founder and co-director of HD Theatre, a contemporary duet company that creates and commission’s pieces to perform worldwide. She has been teaching ballet, floor work, partnering, and improvisation at international workshops, colleges and schools. Most recently Haley has created the “Mentorship Project” a program to guide aspiring young dancers auditioning and preparing for dance careers.

Joe Davis

Joe was born and raised in upstate New York, and can easily be identified by his cacophonous laughter. He attended the Juilliard School on scholarships from The NYCDA Foundation and Cornell University. He has performed notable works by choreographers such as Hofesh Schechter, Alejandro Cerrudo, Micaela Taylor, Barak Marshall, Victor Quijada, and more. He has been a company member with Bodytraffic and guested with Long Beach Opera, LA Chamber Orchestra, Heidi Duckler Dance Company, and Clairobscur Dance. In 2019 he co-founded HD Theatre with partner Haley Heckethorn, a contemporary dance company that performs commissioned work by upcoming and established choreographers, while also providing educational spaces for youth dance programs. Currently Joe is on faculty at CalArts and is a lead Dance Church® teacher, an all-inclusive and community driven outlet to dancing.
