FIRST THURSDAYS ART WALK

First Thursdays Art Walk celebrates the diverse cultural art scene of Laguna Beach and is free to the public with participation by more than 30 member galleries. First Thursdays Art Walk is held on the first Thursday of every month from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

On May 2, Laguna Dance Festival hosted by the Laguna Art Museum showcases a dynamic display of dance and art with contemporary performances by dancers from the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance.

Performances take place inside the museum at 6:30 and 7:00 p.m.

 

Ausia Jones

Ausia Jones is a current junior at the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance with a focus on choreography. Ausia is a two-time Youth America Grand Prix Outstanding Choreographer Award winner, Young Arts winner in both choreography and dance, and a National High School Outstanding Choreographer finalist. Throughout her career, she has had the honor of performing works by William Forsythe, Robert Battle, Azure Barton, Jiri Kylian, and more. During her time at USC Kaufman, she also received training at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival. As she continues to cultivate her passion, Ausia hopes to share her knowledge and love for dance in a way that inspires and educates the next generation of young artists.

 

Jake Tribus

Tribus is currently a student at the University of Southern California’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, pursuing a BFA in Dance with a focus on Business and Film. Jake’s stage performances include the 2018 Gala De Danza in Los Cabos, Mexico, performing a world premiere duet choreographed by Sonya Tayeh, and he performed as a dancer for Lorde’sMelodrama World Tour in Europe. Screen performances of Jake’s include the Look What You Made Me Do music video with Taylor Swift and most recently the Chances music video with the Backstreet Boys as a featured actor and dancer. Jake has begun gathering apprenticeship experience throughout his career, and during this upcoming summer, Jake will be working with Aszure Barton in Germany for two months, workshopping and performing a new creation for the Hamburg Ballet to premiere at the Kampnagel Summer Dance Festival in Hamburg.

Stephanie Dai

Stephanie Dai grew up training in Fremont, California before attending the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. At USC, she fell in love with both concert dance and LA’s commercial scene. Her versatility has allowed her to headline events with the hip-hop crew, Miniotics, be featured in a UNIQLO commercial, and perform as a soloist in the works of Bill T. Jones and Sonya Tayeh. Stephanie hopes to combine dance with other passions to create holistic, interdisciplinary works of art.
