DANCING SOLO TOGETHER
July 16 – September 3, 2020
Laguna Dance Festival presents a series of free live dance solos. Professional dance artists from across the country perform for shoppers, diners, and pedestrians. The site-specific presentations will take place at The Promenade on Forest every Thursday, July 16-September 3rd, 7:00pm-8:30pm. Each performance is unique, highlighting solo dancers and their creative work. The dance presentations are intended to enhance the artistic experience embedded in the Laguna Beach life style, by offering dynamic and thought provoking dance performances, while practicing social distancing and promoting health and safety of all guests on The Promenade on Forest.
July 16th’s performance features:

AMARIA STERN
A native of Dallas, Texas, Amaria Stern is a recent graduate of the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. An aspiring educator with an interest in ethnographic research, she works to create spaces for artists to explore the intersections of art, culture, and spirituality. As her work deals especially with the movement traditions of the African diaspora, Amaria aims to facilitate environments that emphasize the importance of community and cultural exchange through interdisciplinary collaboration, conversation, and performance. RACHEL WALTON
Rachel Walton has performed with Kybele Dance Theater, Psychopomp Dance Theater, Traverse City Dance Project, has signed with Go2 Talent Agency, And has worked as a teaching assistant for Saleemah E. Knight. Additionally, Ms. Walton worked collaboratively with William Forsythe in Germany on a multi-disciplinary project. Read more here.

LENAI WILKERSON
In defying the inequality that bound many black ballerinas before her, Lenai Wilkerson dreams of becoming the realization of the 21st century ballerina. She is currently dancing as a company member with Ballet Hispánico. Read more here.

ARDYN FLYNT
Ardyn Flynt has dedicated herself to social dance practices, engaging with house and hip-hop communities in LA and fusing her conservatory training with vernacular movement. Flynt has taught her methods at the “Art Of” ballet intensive in Zurich, Switzerland, at the Paul Taylor Intensive in LA, as well as at the Laguna Dance Festival Summer Intensive. Read more here.
