Jodie Gates:
The Nature of Dance

In this special program, Ms. Gates will share how dance creation is deeply inspired by other art forms, particularly visual art, as well as the emotions and stories of human life. She will explain the dynamic relationship between music and movement, illustrating how they are inextricably linked.

In an exciting, real-time demonstration, Jodie Gates will collaborate with a musician and a dancer to create original movement inspired by the works of acclaimed artist Fred Tomaselli, currently on view in the Steele Gallery. Drawing from Tomaselli’s intricate shapes, vivid designs, and emotional depth, this program will showcase the process of transforming visual art into physical expression.

Don’t miss this immersive talk at the Laguna Art Museum, designed to bring art, music, and dance together, offering a unique perspective on how creative disciplines inspire one another.
