Once again, Laguna Dance Festival will provide complimentary dance performances during the September 7 Thursday ArtWalk: Kybele Dance Theater at Laguna Art Museum, 307 Cliff Drive, and Entity Contemporary Dance at Dawson Cole Fine Art, 326 Glenneyre Street. Both performances at 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM at no charge.
Kybele Dance Theater (KDT) is a professional contemporary dance company founded in Los Angeles in 2003 by Artistic Director and Choreographer Seda Aybay. Eight permanent company dancers plus guest performers and apprentices offer full evening programs featuring diverse styles and types of work. The company mission is to inspire, think and educate the audience. www.kybeledance.com.
Irvine-based Entity Contemporary Dance, founded in 2009 and directed by UCI alumni Will Johnston and Marissa Osato, fuses contemporary, jazz and hip hop dance techniques to present and imaginative, dynamic repertory meant to bridge the gap between commercial and concert dance. The company will perform a world premiere dance inspired by the glory of the Dawson Cole Fine Art. Entity is the recent winner of the Capezio ACE Award and was a finalist for the prestigious McCallum Theatre Choreography Festival in Palm Desert for five years, and made its international debut in Singapore and Hong Kong in 2016. Currently in residence at EDGE Performing Arts Center in Hollywood, dance lovers are invited to an open company class every Wednesday evening. www.entitycontemporarydance.com
