June 17 – 22 (please note there will be no class on Wednesday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth). This is a hands on experience with limited space. The 2024 June Summer Intensive is designed for intermediate/advanced dancers ages 12+.

Summer Intensive Esteemed Faculty

Jillian Meyers

Jillian Meyers is an Emmy nominated choreographer. Her work varies from touring with Janet Jackson, being the assistant choreographer of the film “La La Land”, and choreographing multiple music videos for the artist Hozier. She will be teaching a Rhythmic Tendencies & Commercial Prep class that will help dancers understand the challenges of camera, location, scene, staging, etc. For Ms. Meyer’s full credits, click here.

 

Jodie Gates

Jodie Gates is best known for being the Founding Director of University of Southern California Glorya Kaufman School of Dance and principal ballerina with the Joffrey Ballet and Complexions Contemporary Ballet. She is an accomplished choreographer and has worked with Prince and John Legend. She will be teaching Ballet Technique and William Forsythe Choreographic Workshops. Ground Grooves – Gracie Whyte & Laura Berg

Ground Grooves will be teaching a methodical and safe floorwork class that emphasizes continuous and fluid floorwork for movers of all levels. “Ground Grooves” was coined in 2016 and has since been taught in 25+ cities and 10+ countries. Fiona Lummis

For two decades, Fiona Lummis graced the stage with her unparalleled artistry and commanding performances with Netherlands Dance Theater. She has created roles in fifteen (15) of Jiří Kylián’s ballets and in numerous works by Hans Van Manen, Nacho Duato, Ohad Naharin, and Mats Ek, among others. Currently, she imparts her wisdom at the Los Angeles County High School of the Arts (LACHSA) and as an Artist in Residence at USC’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, while also staging Kylián’s masterpieces globally. She will be teaching Ballet Technique and Jiří Kylián Choreographic Workshops.

 

Jim Vincent

Jim Vincent will be teaching a Nacho Duato Workshop. Mr. Vincent is a freelance artist and creative consultant d.b.a ONE-DER-BOX LLC. He has more than 35 years of entertainment & cultural experience through his work in theater, music, dance, film, special events, theme parks & site-specific installations. Early in his career he resided and worked in Europe for more than 25 years, during which time he was a dancer, rehearsal director and choreographer with the Nederlands Dans Theater and held key positions at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (Holland), National Opera of Lyon (France) and Compañía Nacional de Danza (Spain). Throughout his career he has worked extensively with choreographers Jiří Kylián, Nacho Duato, William Forsythe, Mats Ek, and Ohad Naharin. In 2000 he returned to the US to become the Artistic Director of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. In 2009, he was invited back to Holland and appointed Artistic Director of the Nederlands Dans Theater through 2012. From 2012 to 2018 he was an Executive Creative Director with the Walt Disney Imagineering Creative Entertainment. As a choreographer, Vincent created works for NDT, NDT 2, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Bern Ballett (Switzerland) and realized collaborative projects with Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra/Hollywood Bowl, St. Louis Symphony, Dirk Dension – Illinois Institute of Technology, as well as HDSC residencies at the Museum of Contemporary Art and Art Institute of Chicago.
